I know every corner of the Deldeneresch inside out. In my teenage years, it was the ultimate spot for climbing trees and causing mischief — pure, carefree freedom. Many of my childhood friends from primary school also lived around the Es. When you’re a teenager, you don’t even realize how beautiful this part of Twickel actually is.
The cornfields seem to suddenly move from one year to the next. First there’s corn for a year or two, and the next year it’s grassland again.
I remember well how much of a chore it could be during the corn harvest to get everything off the land. Deep into the night, you’d see the tractors’ spotlights peaking just above the cornfields, doing whatever it took to harvest the corn on time. One year the ground was way too soggy, and the next year it was too dry again. Nowadays, with all the modern equipment, that whole process goes a lot faster and more efficiently. Or as we say around here: ‘eemn langsloopn’.
During that harvest, beautiful patterns and structures always emerge, just as you can see in the photo.
